Dato’ Elaine Teh

Executive Chairman

Dato’ Elaine is the Executive Chairman of the Etagreen group and Octopus group. She possesses more than three decades of business experience. Founded in 2002, the Octopus group is a leading consumer goods company in Singapore and Malaysia with interests in wholesale, distribution, and retail, distributing products to all major supermarket chains, major hotels and restaurants in Singapore. Group subsidiary Octopus Distribution Networks was awarded the Enterprise 50 award in 2019, which recognizes the 50 most enterprising local, privately held companies that have contributed to the economic development of Singapore, both locally and abroad. 

Dato’ Teh founded the Etagreen group to expand into the industrial sector with the vision of driving sustainability and uplifting the agricultural processing industry. Drawing on her networks, she built the Etagreen group from scratch and turned it into a sustainable biomass energy and agricultural waste management player within a short span of two years. 

Dato’ Teh is also actively involved in the non-profit sector and has held leadership and advisory positions at the Rotary Club of Sentosa, International Women’s Federation of Commerce and Industry in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia, and Honorary Advisory Council for University of New South Wales (UNSW Sydney). 

In recognition of her social and community efforts, Dato’ Teh was conferred her Dato ship in 2013, bestowed the Spirit of Enterprise Award in 2019 and Women Entrepreneur Award in 2020. 

Dato’ Teh graduated from UNSW with a double major in Economics and Japanese.

Prof Dato’ Dr Ahmad B Ibrahim

Prof Dato Dr Ahmad Ibrahim advises Etagreen group on technology and industry matters. Prof Dato Dr Ahmad Ibrahim possesses approximately 50 years of engineering and industry experience. He is a Professor of Chemical Engineering at UCSI University and the Program Working Group Coordinator for the Tan Sri Omar Centre for STI Policy Studies. UCSI is the top private university in Malaysia and was ranked as among the world’s top 1% in the QS World University Rankings in 2023. The Tan Sri Omar Centre for STI Policy Studies was established in 2021 to promote the enhancement of national science, Technology and Social Innovation (STI agenda). He also serves as the Senior Adviser for Fraunhofer Research Germany in Malaysia. 

Prior to his appointment at UCSI, Prof. Dato Dr Ahmad Ibrahim was a consultant for the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia, having served as its CEO from 2011 to 2014. Other positions that Prof. Dato Dr Ahmad Ibrahim had held includes Senior Principal Analyst at the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology, Vice President (Academic, Research & Industry) at the Malaysia University of Science and Technology, Vice President (Research and Technology) at SIRIM Malaysia (Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia). Prof. Dato Dr Ahmad Ibrahim retired from the Malaysian Palm Oil Promotion Council in 2003, where he was the Director of Marketing & Promotion for nine years. 

Prof. Dato Dr Ahmad Ibrahim holds a Chemical Engineering degree from Monash University and a Ph.D. in Wastewater Engineering from Newcastle University in the UK. He completed a Post-doctorate at Cornell University in the USA as part of the Hubert Humphrey Fulbright program and also attended the Advanced Management Program at Oxford University Business School. 

His current focus areas include Policy for Sustainable Cities, UN-SDGs, Climate Change, Low Carbon Management, and STI Policy studies, particularly in the fields of energy, water, and agriculture. He is also a prolific media writer, covering topics related to STI, Sustainability, Smart Urban Planning, City Wastes, the future of the rubber industry, and the sustainability of the palm oil business. 

Rahim Bin Othman 

Plant Director

Mr. Rahim played an instrumental role in the formation of the Etagreen group, setting up the initial management team, organization structure and taking over the group’s first waste management-cum- biomass power plant. His responsibilities include overseeing the group’s operations and the financial performance of its investments and business ventures, reviewing, and evaluating market opportunities, business strategy and profitability. Mr. Rahim possesses more than 40 years of business and commercial experience. 

Prior to joining the Etagreen group, Mr. Rahim was a director at the Lecca Group in Singapore, in charge of overseeing business operations and new projects, including the management of the group’s property assets. He also oversaw the group’s relocation of its Singapore offices and warehouse to the existing Octopus Building, a 138,000 square feet five storey integrated showroom, warehouse, and office.

Justin Ang

Operation Director

Mr. Ang is responsible for the overall operation of our waste management-cum-biomass power plant, provides technical advisory and strategic planning for the group’s future expansion. Reporting to the Executive Chairman and Plant Director, Mr. Ang planned and executed the power plant’s turnaround strategy from technical enhancements and plant overhaul to liaison with key authorities including the Sustainable Energy Development Authority Malaysia (SEDA), Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) and the Energy Commission (EC). Mr. Ang possesses more than 20 years of engineering and industry experience. 

Prior to joining the group, Mr. Ang was in the steam turbine industry where he oversaw a list of more than 100 customer mills and some 45 overseas mills, including those of Felda Global Ventures, KLK, Prosper, IOI and private mills. Mr. Ang’s experience includes technical advisory for boiler manufacturing, installation, testing & commissioning, sourcing of vendors, equipment and contractors, at projects in Malaysia, Thailand, Indonesia, Africa and Central America. Over the years, Mr. Ang has manufactured and completed the installation of over 70 units of boilers ranging from 0.5 TPH to 55 TPH with pressure rating of 10barg to 41barg. 

Mr. Ang holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering (Hons) from The Nottingham Trent University (UK) and is a registered member of Board of Engineers Malaysia (B.E.M) 

Ng Kong Jee

Director of Technology

Mr. Ng Kong Jee has more than 25 years of experience in project and operation management in building management system, intersecting the information technology (“IT”), construction-mechanical & electrical engineering (“M&E”), extra low voltage (“ELV”) sectors. Mr. Ng has done extensive research & development into Internet of Thing (“IoT”) devices and is responsible for the development of our Sustainable Energy Efficiency Solutions (“SEES”) at Etagreen Advanced Solution Pte. Ltd.

Prior to joining Etagreen, Mr. Ng had designed and installed heating, ventilation, and air conditioning control systems, as well as various building management systems for commercial buildings in Singapore, including at a 500-room hotel in Sentosa and a 4-storey 116,695 sq. ft. industrial/business park building.

Drawing upon his experience in building management systems and air conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems, Mr. Ng has successfully deployed SEES in various environments, including cold room refrigeration systems where third party certification of energy savings has been obtained.
